Peace be on you
May Allah swt reward you for posting this video. The sheikh is both wise and compassionate. What was that word he used at 0:30. Ma’boon? I’ve never heard it ever until now.
Also love how he said we need to humanise those who under go the struggle and show mercy. Also interesting to hear that those who do not ascribe to the faith are not obliged to follow it’s precepts. I guess that’s the meaning of there is no compulsion in religion. So at the time of the Holy Prophet ( may Allah swt bless him and his family) were people judged according to their own scriptures but still offered protection by the Muslims if they paid the special rate ( I forgot the name)?-
May Allah take care of you

Dear BB, and on you be peace.

Yes the word is ma’boon (مأبون) and I will need to consult some works of fiqh to see what this denotes and what rulings were talked about concerning such people.

Its linguistic meaning is “suspect”, which isn’t very positive. But I remain hopeful that we find some interesting nuances that could help inform modern discussions, but possibly the discourse also needs updating with what we know about how SSA develop.

About the other questions, the following link has some interesting resources:

All the best!

ma’boon is meaning catamite, a boy took by homosexual man

Homosexuality is a major sin. Believing that homosexuality is permissible is apostasy. The punishment for homosexuals, who are tried and convicted according to the laws of the Shari’ah, is death. Plain and simple.

Death? Moses received by God the commandement to not kill anybody on Mount Sinai.
