My bed is dust… July 16, 2006

Posted by Rasheed Eldin in Advice, Islam.

There is no greater reminder than the words of God; but sometimes other other ways of communicating will reach people’s hearts. Whoever you are, please watch this and reflect. Perhaps Muslims, especially Arabic speakers, will be moved the most.

Let’s repent of our sins today. Our Lord, forgive us and guide us.

well im an arabic guy, this clip is nice but what i would like to say is that why you muslims always refer to death and sorrow in your religious clips and chants, its not the fear of death that should make me a good believer, its knowing god and living in his peace and joy in my life not only thinking of my death, cuz its a moment that i should be happy to meet god and live my eternal life with him!!! so guyz live happily and dont be so desperate about faith, life is good man so chill…. God doesnt want you to be crying of redemtion all your life!!! excuse my english!!!

Salam Zaid,
I’m glad that you found the site. I think you bring up a very good point. I just wanted to point out when thing. The Qur’an always keeps a balance in terms of the last day. Allah always tells us about the evils that some people will encounter on that day and the bounties and ease that others will. We are unsure of which category we will be in. Of course we all look forward to being in that category of people who will have the ultimate ease and will just breeze into Heaven. However, in disciplining our “selves” we need to take a look at both sides of the story. We have to be able to learn both from the terrifying events of this last day and from the bounties and glad tidings that are promised on that last day as well. While it is true that some people do focus on the negative aspcets, there are othres (such as Amr Khalid, whom i’m sure you have heard of if you are in the Arab world) who focus on being positive and keeping a balance in how we teach and discipline our selves.
In relation to this site and our lives in general…we want to bring up both sides of the last day in order to fear the punishment for our sins and to encourage ourselves to do good deeds in order to attain Paradise God willing. In a famous hadeeth of the Prophet (peace be upon him) he tells us: “Surely the prize of Allah is expensive for it is Paradise” We believe that we have to work for this prize in order to attain it…it will not be handed to us on a platter unless we are deserving of it. May God guide us all.
