One brick at a time June 10, 2006Posted by Mujahid Mustaqim in Islam, StraightWay.
Less than a month ago, Rasheed wrote about the negative responses received when we at the StraightWay Foundation have tried to inform the Muslim public about our work, and of course about this wonderful blog.
I now have positive news to report about Carleton MSA in Canada, who eventually posted a message on their email ring about our work, after somebody forwarded it to them again. May Allah reward them.
You can read the email below.

Subject: [CarletonMSA] FW: [uomsa] Dealing with feelings of "Homosexuality"?
Salams Everyone ,
BEFORE U COME TO ANY CONCLUSION , PLEASE READ AND CHECK OUT THE FORWARDED EMAIL BELOW FIRST … THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM IN OUR MUSLIM COMMUNITY AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED …IGNORING IT AND PRETENDING IT DOESN'T EXIST MEANS THAT WE ACCEPT THAT OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS EITHER SUFFER ALONE OR LOSE FAITH AND LEAVE THE RELIGION … IT IS GOOD TO KNOW THAT A MUSLIM RESPONSE HAS TAKEN PLACE SO PLEASE READ THE EMAIL BELOW BEFORE U COME TO ANY CONCLUSIONS …
I am forwarding this from the UOMSA ( Ottawa U MSA List ) list by Taleb Haq …It is very relevant in our times especially as Carleton Students and elhamdulilah such organizations exist to help Muslims deal with such feelings if they have them …. Please pass this around so brothers and sisters in this situation can seek confidential assistance.
I just wanted to share this info , please do not fill my inbox with replies to this email ….
Take good care.

In the Name of God the Most Gracious the Most Merciful
I pray you receive this message in an ever rising state of TAQWA and IMAN.
In a recent comment I received from a student at Carleton University, the student mentioned how the GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transexual and Queer) club on campus described that their most pressing issue for that year was that they were unable to deal with Muslims coming to them for help because these Muslims were dealing with feelings of homosexuality.
The StraightWay Foundation, of which I'm a supporter, deals with the issue of Islam and Homosexuality from a mainstream Islamic prespective. We do not support the views of people that call themselves "progressive" muslims who reinterpret the texts of the Qur'an to their own likings (with this I'm referring to groups such as the Muslim Canadian Congress, the Progressive Muslims Union and others). We follow the Qur'an and the Sunnah in order to help Muslims deal these feelings of homosexuality which we call "same-sex attractions" or SSA for short.
If you would like to read more about our stances agains these progressive Muslims please have a read of our blog at www.straightstruggle.com
If you, or someone that you know, is dealing with these feelings please have a visit to our online anonymous support group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/StraightStruggle
JazakAllah for your attention.
